On Tuesday, March 7th, 2023, the Faculty of Engineering and the Department of Informatics and Computer Engineering organized a Visiting Professor event. The series of events began with the first activity, a Guest Lecture held at the Graduate School Hall of Universitas Negeri Makassar. The event was officially opened by the Vice Dean IV of the Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Negeri Makassar, Drs. Ir. Faisal Syafar, M.Si., M.InfTech., Ph.D., IPU.
The Guest Lecture on the theme of Emerging Technology, Challenges, and Potential Impact in Today’s Digital World featured Professors from Japan, including Prof. Shinji Sugawara from Chiba Institute of Technology, Japan and Prof. Kiyoshi Ueda from Nihon University, Japan. The first material was presented by Prof. Kiyoshi Ueda titled “Introduction to Nihon University,” mainly about laboratory activities and some research highlights that have been conducted. The second presentation by Prof. Shinji Sugawara addressed the topic “In-advance Deployment of Share Content Replicas over Hybrid Peer-to-Peer Network Using Linear Popularity Prediction”.
The Guest Lecture activity, moderated by Prof. Yasser Abd. Djawad, was attended by more than 170 students from various classes and programs, including undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students of Universitas Negeri Makassar. The Guest Lecture went smoothly and was followed by a Q&A session from some participants.
“The model that is currently being developed is a plan that can be useful in times of disaster, where telecommunication and electrical networks are less effective and not working, and this model can accommodate needs with wireless technology,” said Prof. Kiyoshi Ueda in his presentation.
Not only that, in the material presented by Prof. Shinji Sugawara, he explained that “Currently, if most data is moved from the server to each device, in the research conducted, the content can move from one phone to another or to another device peer-to-peer.”
The Event was then closed by Vice Dean IV of the Faculty of Engineering of Universitas Negeri Makassar, Drs. Ir. Faisal Syafar, M.Si., M.InfTech., Ph.D., IPU, giving some impressions and advice to all participants of the Guest Lecture and a photo session with the Guest Lecture attendees.
